Man dies in ‘targeted’ North Highlands shooting, Sacramento sheriff’s officials say

A man is dead after a shooting in North Highlands that law enforcement officers believe to be “targeted,” the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 6800 block of Concert Way at 1 p.m. Monday after receiving a 911 call reporting a man had been shot, according to the news release. Deputies arrived and found a man lying in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound.

Deputies began life-saving measures while fire personnel responded. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

“Homicide detectives are currently on scene and believe the shooting was targeted, although a motive is not known at this time,” the sheriff’s office said

Witnesses are still being interviewed and suspect information is not yet available, according to the release.
