Two officers injured in Sacramento hit-and-run crash involving patrol car, CHP says
Two California Highway Patrol officers were injured late Tuesday when a car ran a stop sign and collided with their patrol car in the Richmond Grove neighborhood of Sacramento.
The two officers were driving westbound on V Street, approaching 18th Street in their marked CHP patrol car, when a Toyota Corolla traveling northbound on 18th Street failed to stop at the stop sign, said Officer Turner of the CHP’s Capitol Protection Services. The Corolla collided with the left side of the CHP patrol car.
The two people inside the Toyota then fled on foot, he said.
Officers at the scene checked the registration on the Toyota and found it was registered to an address near the collision scene. Officers went to the address and found two people there. They were arrested on suspicion of hit and run and taken to UC Davis Medical Center where they were treated and then transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, Turner said.
The two injured officers were also taken to UC Davis Medical Center for “major and and minor injuries,” Turner said. They were treated and released.
