Police investigating fatal collision after train strikes pedestrian in Rocklin

Authorities said a pedestrian died when he was hit by a train Saturday night in Rocklin.

The Rocklin Police Department said the fatal collision was reported at 7:21 p.m. near American Way and Pacific Street, about a mile away from the Rocklin Amtrak Station.

Roads in the area were closed and residents were asked to avoid the area while officers processed and cleared the scene. Police said all roads were reopened shortly before 9 p.m.

The victim has not been identified. The cause of the collision is under investigation. No other information has been released.
