Man rammed ATV into work truck and tried to damage patrol car, Placer deputies say
Placer County sheriff’s officials say an angry man rammed an ATV into a tree trimming crew’s work truck before he was taken into custody and tried to kick out the window of a patrol car.
Jerry Thomason was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon that is not a firearm, along with misdemeanor charges of obstructing a peace officer and vandalism, according to jail custody records.
The incident occurred Tuesday outside Thomason’s home along Lost River Road, just north of Virginiatown Road in Lincoln, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook on Wednesday. A tree trimming company that is contracted by Pacific Gas and Electric Co. was working there.
Sheriff’s officials said Thomason, 54, damaged the company’s work vehicles on another occasion as workers were trying to clear trees and brush. So, deputies were called to the area to remain on standby as the crew worked Tuesday.
Thomason became “irate” as the crew of workers cleared tree limbs, according to the Facebook post. Official said Thomason got on his ATV and “used it as a weapon,” intentionally ramming the front of the crew’s truck. Workers were inside the truck at the time.
Deputies arrested Thomason and placed him in a sheriff’s patrol car. Then, Thomason tried kicking out the patrol car’s window. He was booked at the county jail and later released after posting a bail bond.
