‘Possibly armed suspect’ sought in North Oak Park, Sacramento police say

Sacramento police officers did not find a suspect they believed might have a gun after searching around North Oak Park for several hours Wednesday.

Police began pursuing a “possibly armed suspect” about 1 p.m. Officers attempted an enforcement stop on the suspect who may have had a gun, and the suspect ran from officers, said Officer Karl Chan, Sacramento Police Department spokesman.

Chan said the officers chased the suspect to the 4000 block of Broadway, several blocks west of Stockton Boulevard. The department’s helicopter unit was called in to help in the search. Officers set up a perimeter around the area.

The department’s SWAT team was called to the scene, so officers could search for the suspect safely. Chan said the yard-to-yard search for the suspect included some outdoor structures, such as a shed.

At about 6 p.m., officers began leaving the scene. Chan said the search ended and the officers did not find the suspect.
