Man arrested after multi-county pursuit ends with a crash in Yuba City, CHP says
A man was arrested in Yuba City on Wednesday after fleeing from police officers and crashing into directional signs near Lincoln Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Yuba-Sutter CHP officers were looking for Gurpreet Pannu, who harassed a business and evaded Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies in an earlier pursuit, according to a news release. Pannu was spotted by officers on Highway 99 and fled as they tried to pull him over.
The chase went onto Highway 113, George Washington Boulevard and Obanion Road before eventually reaching Garden Highway in Yuba City.
Officers used a spike strip to flatten Pannu’s tires, which caused him to drive onto the sidewalk near Lincoln Road and crash into directional signs at the intersection.
Pannu, 31, was arrested and booked into Sutter County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and felony evasion charges.
