A Sacramento woman was arrested last week after deputies found a stolen chainsaw in her motor home and drug paraphernalia, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Deputies responded to a home on Cody Lane in Colfax on April 18 for a report of a theft. The victims had taken pictures of the suspect, Teresa Ellis, 45, as she was allegedly stealing a chainsaw from the property, the sheriff’s office said in a social media post.

“One of the victims approached Ellis, when she hit them in the leg with a ‘hand cart’ and knocked them down, prior to taking off,” the sheriff’s office said. “Both deputies then began their search for the suspect and her motor home.”

The deputies found the motor home parked near Rollins Lake campground, and made contact with Ellis who is on searchable probation. A search of her motor home resulted in recovery of the chainsaw as well as a black backpack containing methamphetamine and two used pipes.

Ellis was arrested on suspicion of burglary, looting, battery, possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine, the sheriff’s office said.
