Davis police issue community advisory following reports of gunman along bike path
The Davis Police Department issued a community advisory Sunday after receiving multiple reports over the past week of an armed man along the bike path near Putah Creek in south Davis.
Police were called to the area again at 6:30 a.m. Sunday after a citizen reported seeing someone, possibly armed with a rifle, walking in the greenbelt and bike-path area south of Drew Circle. Officers were unable to locate the person, but they found evidence that someone had possibly discharged a BB or pellet gun, police said.
Davis police said they received at least two similar reports in the past week. Officers have found no evidence of a rifle or shotgun being discharged, but police are reminding the public that discharging any firearm within the city limits is a violation of the law, including air guns.
Police are asking anyone with information about these incidents to call the department’s non-emergency line at 530-747-5400. Anyone reporting an emergency or suspicious activity should call 911.
