Shooting in North Sacramento wounds driver, who then strikes pedestrian, police say
Police are searching for a suspect after a shooting Tuesday morning left one man injured and led to a traffic collision that injured a pedestrian, Sacramento Police said.
Police responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision at 11:34 a.m. in the 800 block of Lampasas Avenue in the Old North Sacramento neighborhood. As officers arrived, they found the driver suffering from a gunshot wound, said Officer Karl Chan, spokesman for the department.
The driver had been shot in the area and in attempting to flee the scene, struck a pedestrian and struck a residential fence near where the shooting occurred.
The two victims were transported to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment. They are in critical but stable condition and are expected to recover, Chan said.
Two suspects are believed to have fled the scene in a black 4-door sedan with tinted windows, possibly a Hyundai Sonata or Infiniti, according to police communications. One suspect was described by authorities as 5-foot-8, 150 to 160 pounds with no shirt and blue jeans; the other man was roughly 40 years old, 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, wearing a white shirt.
