Firefighters battled a grass fire in Wilton on Sunday afternoon that was whipped up by winds.

A dispatcher at the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department said the fire, located near Haggie Road, was initially reported at 5 acres, but had grown to 25 acres due to high winds in the area.

The dispatcher said that six outbuildings were threatened by the fire and local fire departments, including the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, were assisting.

Several service roads in the area were subject to closures as the blaze continued to grow.

The fire appeared to be mostly out by 4 p.m.
