Police investigating homicide after Meadowview shooting

Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed Thursday night in Sacramento’s Meadowview neighborhood.

Officers responded shortly after 10 p.m. to reports of shots fired near Coral Gables Court and located a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release.

Police and paramedics began to render aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene. No suspect information was available as of Friday morning as the investigation is in early stages, according to the news release.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
