Sacramento Sheriff’s deputies struggle with Arden Arcade stabbing suspect
A large police presence in the area of Edison Avenue and Morse Avenue blocked off roadways as Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies struggled with a suspect.
Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sgt. Tess Deterding said deputies were called out to a residence on the 3000 block of Edison Avenue around 12:20 p.m. on reports of a stabbing between family members.
At least half-dozen Sheriff’s Office cruisers were seen blocking the roadway as deputies tried to detain the suspect.
The sole victim suffered stab wounds to an extremity, and is expected to survive.
The struggle had the potential to escalate into a standoff, with deputies “preparing for that kind of callout,” but the suspect was successfully taken into custody at the home without further incident, Deterding said.
By 2:30 p.m., deputies were beginning to clear out the area.
