16-year-old arrested, sent to juvenile hall in connection with fatal La Riviera shooting
A 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a Friday night shooting in La Riviera that left one man dead and injured another.
In a news release, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called out to the 9000 block of Tuolumne Drive on reports of a shooting.
Responding deputies found an 18-year-old man who had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Deputies attempted life-saving measures, but fire personnel pronounced him dead at the scene of the shooting.
Another victim of the same shooting was later identified by deputies at a hospital. A 31-year-old man receiving medical treatment had also been shot in the upper body, but was expected to survive.
Detectives arrested a 16-year-old in connection with the shooting. He was booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall on related charges.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
