A grass fire burning near North Oak Park on Saturday afternoon shut down two lanes of Highway 50 and a connector to the Capital City Freeway.

California Highway Patrol incident logs reported a fire burning off the right shoulder of the highway near Sacramento Charter High School just after 4 p.m. A fire had previously ignited in the area around 3 p.m., but after being put out, started back up again later.

The Sacramento Fire Department was sent out to fight the blaze as several lanes of traffic and the on-ramp onto northbound Capital City Freeway were closed down, according to CHP logs.

Live video from KCRA showed a relatively small area burning but a profusion of smoke pouring into surrounding neighborhood.

Caltrans said that the fire was out as of 4:45 p.m.
