A Utah man was arrested last week on suspicion of embezzling thousands of dollars from a Yuba City employer.

In a news release, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office said John Hammond, 46, was taken into custody on Thursday after Yuba City-based trucking company New Legend reportedly lost more than $100,000 over two years.

The business reached out to deputies to report Hammond, who was accused of stealing thousands during his employment at the company.

After investigating, detectives with the Sheriff’s Office located Hammond at his place of business and arrested him on suspicion of embezzlement. He was booked into the Sutter County Jail but was released hours later via no-cash bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned in August.
