Four-hour law enforcement standoff in Citrus Heights resolved peacefully
The Citrus Heights Police Department was engaged in a standoff with a suspect barricaded in a community near an elementary school Tuesday afternoon for about four hours before resolving the situation peacefully.
Citrus Heights police spokesman Lt. Michael Wells said officers were called out to make contact with a man with a warrant at noon on reports of a dispute, but the man quickly fled into a house where he lives with relatives on the 8000 block of Casuarnia Court.
As of 3 p.m., officers had completely surrounded the house and were making contact via phone calls with the suspect, according to Wells.
By 4:30 p.m., the situation had been deescalated and officers determined that no crimes had been committed by the suspect. The standoff ended peacefully, according to police, and there was no ongoing threat to the public.
The area is largely residential, but Rollingwood Boulevard runs along the outskirts of Grand Oaks Elementary School.
