Man found shot to death by crash site near south Sacramento, police say
The Sacramento Police Department is investigating an early-morning killing Sunday after a man was found shot to death near south Sacramento.
In a news release, the agency said that officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Franklin Boulevard and Fruitridge Road around 12:42 a.m.
Police found a man who had suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound and first responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
Nearby, there was evidence of a single-vehicle crash that was linked to the shooting, according to police.
Sacramento police detectives are working to canvass the surrounding neighborhood and crime scene investigators hope to locate more evidence related to the killing.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
