South Lake Tahoe police find Black doll hanging from power line in hate incident
The South Lake Tahoe Police Department on Tuesday is investigating what was characterized as a “disturbing” hate incident after a Black doll was found hanging from a power line in a residential neighborhood.
Officers arrived to the Sierra Tract neighborhood and found the doll hanging with a string around its neck and hanging from the power line, police officials said in a news release.
A Liberty Energy crew helped the officers remove the doll from the power line.
Police said the incident will not be classified as a hate crime, but officers were investigating and documenting it as a hate incident, according to the news release.
Investigators want to identify the person or people involved in hanging the doll. As of Tuesday afternoon, officers had not found any witnesses or leads.
