Elk Grove man pleads not guilty on charges of sexually assaulting an intoxicated minor

An Elk Grove man charged with sexually assaulting an intoxicated minor pleaded not guilty to four felony counts Tuesday, Yuba County court records show.

The man — Steven Austin Peak, 20 — was arrested March 5, after an investigation into an alleged sexual encounter at Camp Far West Lake, said Leslie Carbah, a spokeswoman for the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office. The victim, 17, was intoxicated at the time.

Peak was arraigned June 23 for sexual penetration of an intoxicated victim, sexual penetration of a minor, oral copulation of an intoxicated victim and oral copulation of a minor, records show.

The initial alleged incident occurred Feb. 29 and was reported from a Placer County hospital the following day, Carbah said. After his arrest, Peak was released on $350,000 bail.
