Missing 12-year-old boy and mother located, CHP says; advisory canceled

The California Highway Patrol late Monday deactivated an alert for a 12-year-old Colorado boy and he and his mother were found.

Liam Sweezey had last seen about 12:30 p.m. Friday, according to the endangered missing advisory issued by the CHP on behalf of the Aurora Police Department in Colorado.

The location where the two were found was not immediately known.

Investigators said the boy was taken by his mother, Nikki Sweezey.

About 2:20 p.m., the CHP advised that the woman and her son had last been seen in the 2000 block of Fisher Boulevard in the Southern California town of Barstow. At that point, the CHP issued the advisory for San Bernardino, Riverside, San Diego and Imperial counties.

Slightly more than 10 minutes later, the CHP posted an update that indicated the mother and her son were last seen in the 3300 block of North Glenoaks Boulevard in Burbank, not far from Interstate 5.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Monday, the CHP expanded the advisory for the missing boy to include Sacramento, Butte, Colusa, Fresno, Glenn, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tulare and Yolo counties.
