25-year-old man killed in South City Farms shooting identified by Sacramento coroner

The victim in a fatal South City Farms shooting from earlier this month was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Preston Smith, 25, of Sacramento was killed in a morning shooting on July 1 on the 2900 block of 33rd Avenue.

The Sacramento Police Department was sent out to the scene of the shooting around 2:30 a.m., where they found Smith suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers and first responders with the Sacramento Fire Department attempted life-saving measures, but Smith was declared dead at the scene.

Police detectives initially had little information to work with regarding the shooting. Suspect descriptions and possible motives were unknown. Police have yet to announce any arrests made in connection with the shooting.
