Sheriff’s Office investigates south Sacramento shooting that killed 18-year-old woman
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the homicide of a woman who was shot and killed in south Sacramento Monday night.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a shooting at the 5300 block of 47th Avenue just after 5 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found an 18-year-old woman with at least one gunshot wound near Stockton Boulevard and El Paraiso Avenue. Deputies began life-saving measures, but the woman died at the scene.
Detectives determined the victim was visiting a gravesite nearby with friends when an unknown suspect or suspects fired at them and then fled the area in a car. The Sheriff’s Office did not release the name of the cemetery the victim visited, but Home of Peace Cemetery is located at the intersection where the victim was found.
