Suspect who fled police caught after search near Woodland High School

Police said a man who fled a traffic stop, prompting an unsuccessful search Tuesday, was apprehended just after noon in Woodland.

The search for the man, identified as Pablo Martinez, 32, of Woodland started after he allegedly fled during a traffic stop in which officers found a loaded gun in a vehicle, according to police.

Officers searched the area of California and West Beamer streets just south of the Woodland High School campus, the Woodland Police Department said in a social media post just before 9 a.m. They established a perimeter in the area but could not locate the suspect. Police have since stopped the search and left the scene, according to an update posted shortly after 10:15 a.m.

Martinez was taken into custody on the first block of Mariposa Street, not far from the original search area, after being spotted by residents, police said. Police said Martinez was taken to a hospital for a dog bite, but they did not say whether the injury came from a police K-9 or another dog.

He was wanted on suspicion of firearm possession, a probation violation and for fleeing from police.
