Man arrested after car chase from Roseville to Sacramento. He faces kidnapping charges
A Vallejo man is facing kidnapping and assault charges after being arrested by Placer County deputies Monday afternoon.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting a kidnapping on Taylor Road in Roseville around 5:30 a.m., where a witness heard someone screaming for help. Police were unable to find the suspect on the scene, according to Angela Musallam, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
Another 911 call, around 7 a.m., sent authorities to Sierra College Boulevard, where a witness was with a woman who reported she had been kidnapped.
The woman had been trying to escape and was dragged back into the suspect’s car until she was able to flee and get help from the witness, Musallam said.
Police investigated and later spotted the suspect’s vehicle, a blue Maserati, near Taylor Road around 1 p.m. Before authorities could approach the suspect, he fled. An hour-long pursuit ensued, ending when the man, identified as Anthony Flemmings Williams, crashed his vehicle into a tree at the intersection of Fulton and Marconi avenues in Sacramento’s Arden Arcade area.
The suspect was driving erratically at a high speed, according to Musallam.
Williams, 33, was arrested and booked at South Placer Jail, where his bail is set at $500,000.
