Man arrested on suspicion of purposely crashing truck into Oroville Police Department
An Oroville man is facing charges of driving under the influence, felony vandalism and two counts of battery of a police officer after intentionally driving his car into the Oroville Police Department, authorities said.
Jedidiah Guerra is accused of purposely destroying the public lobby and restroom of the building which houses the city’s police and fire departments. The incident, which took place around 3 p.m. Friday, left unknown amounts of damage to the plumbing in the building, according to a department Facebook post.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect’s vehicle was a 1997 full-size Chevrolet truck, which caused extensive damage. Following the collision, he attempted to flee on foot, assaulting two officers in the process, police said. Guerra, 33, was detained and arrested outside the building.
The lobby and restroom of the building, 2055 Lincoln St., are closed for repairs. Police said the crash appeared to be intentional, though for unknown reasons.
Guerra is being held at Butte County Jail in Oroville on $140,000 bail.
