Hindu temple reports attempted break-in and burglarized vehicle, Sacramento police say

Police tape at crime scene

Police are investigating a burglary that occurred at the Hari Om Mandir temple in south Sacramento.

Police responded to a call around 2 p.m. Saturday reporting the burglary at the temple in the 7700 block of La Mancha Way, but it is believed to have occurred the night before, said Officer Karl Chan, Sacramento Police Department spokesman.

Authorities determined that the suspect trespassed onto the property, broke into a parked car and tried to enter the temple without success.

Police are investigating all possible motives, though an official with the temple has expressed the incident could be a hate crime. Investigators are looking for surveillance footage and canvassing the area, and do not have suspect information yet.
