A grass fire off Highway 49 in south of Placerville is reported under control after threatening homes Monday afternoon.
Brice Bennett, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, said the fire started about 2:15 p.m. in the 7500 block of Highway 49 in the Logtown area. As of about 3:15 p.m., Bennett said, the fire had burned an estimated 4.25 acres and was no longer growing.
Crews from several area fire agencies were on scene, including Cal Fire, El Dorado County, Cameron Park, Diamond Springs and Rescue.
