Worker arrested after elder care patient dies at residential board-and-care facility
A Rancho Cordova caregiver is facing two felony charges in connection with the weekend death of an elderly woman.
Detectives from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, which operates the Rancho Cordova Police Department, arrested Oluwatoyin Mudashiru on Sunday afternoon after the victim’s death, which took place at a residential board-and-care home on the 10200 block of Goinyour Way, according to a news release.
The death took place at Benny’s Home, formerly known as Jenny’s Home. Mudashiru, 59, who was an employee of the facility, was caring for the woman at the time of the death, deputies said.
A couple who owns the home and care business has operated it since 2018, deputies said. While the couple was not identified by the Sheriff’s Office, deputies said the two were involved in running the care facility before owning it. Investigators are also looking into another board-and-care home on the 2100 block of McGregor Drive in Rancho Cordova owned by the couple.
Police are asking anyone with information about the operation of the homes to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 916-874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-HELP.
Mudashiru is being held without bail in Sacramento County Main Jail and faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and willfully causing or permitting elder or dependent adult abuse.
