Two suspects arrested for July shooting in Roseville

Police tape at crime scene

A 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman face attempted murder charges after being arrested by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office on Monday. Ulices Gomora and Vanessa John are accused of being involved in a July 21 shooting that left one man injured, a Facebook post by the police department said.

Authorities responded to a 911 call around 11:30 p.m. July 21 in the 1900 block of Vineyard Road in Roseville. The caller said his brother was shot. Deputies found the victim had multiple gunshot wounds and saw a late-model Cadillac sedan speed away from the scene.

The victim’s statement led investigators to identify Gomora as the shooter and John as the driver of the Cadillac.

Arrest warrants for both suspects were issued. On Monday, a search warrant for their residence in Clearlake was served and Placer County Sheriff’s Deputies found several firearms in the home, the Facebook post said. Neither suspect was found at the residence.

John was found elsewhere in Clearlake and arrested. Gomora was seen driving eastbound on Interstate 80 in the Emigrant Gap area, where he was stopped. Authorities found eight 1-pound packages of marijuana in his possession and he was arrested, the department said.

Both suspects were booked at the Placer County Jail in Auburn and are being held without bail.
