Gunshots fired on Highway 50, CHP confirms
Gunshots were fired on Highway 50 near Watt Avenue and Folsom Boulevard on Monday just before 10:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. A CHP helicopter has been monitoring the area.
CHP confirmed that gunfire was exchanged between two vehicles in what appeared to be a targeted attack. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for care. No others were injured.
The suspect vehicle remains at large and is described as a tan sedan. Police are still investigating the reason for the shooting.
Eastbound lanes at Watt Avenue are shut down, with traffic backed up beyond the 65th Street exit.
At noon, a CHP patrol vehicle escorted a silver hatchback west in the eastbound lanes, stopping at the Watt Avenue exit, according to Caltrans traffic cam video.
