Rabbit dies, dog in bad shape after being left in hot Vacaville cars

Animals left in parked vehicles resulted in the heat-related death of a rabbit and the suffering of a dogs on Tuesday in Vacaville.

Solano County Humane Animal Services arrested a woman for leaving the rabbit in her vehicle in the hot sun.

In a separate incident, Tamira Filbert, 46, of Vacaville was charged with animal cruelty for allegedly leaving dogs in her parked car for more than an hour while she took care of an elderly person, according to a Vacaville police Facebook post.

It is unclear whether one of the dogs will survive, according to Vacaville police.
