Woodland police are investigating a dead body found Thursday inside a vehicle at a used-car lot as a homicide.
Police were called about 8 a.m. to Woodland Auto Sales, on East Main Street, after a report of a body on the sales lot, but Woodland police Sgt. Brett Hancock said few details were available. The person has not been identified and the person’s sex or age has not yet been released.
Yolo County coroner’s officials have the body, Hancock said. Coroner’s technicians later Thursday morning carried away two bags of items from the scene for analysis. The cause of death is not known, Hancock said, adding that investigators will be “relying heavily on the coroner’s report.”
“The investigation is being treated as a homicide,” Hancock said. “We’re going to do everything in our power to find witnesses to determine who this victim might be.”
