Man found dead in vehicle with bullet holes in North Highlands, Sacramento deputies say

Police tape at crime scene

A man was found dead Tuesday evening following a North Highlands shooting being investigated as homicide, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal shooting occurred around 5:45 p.m. in the area of Harrison Street and Madison Avenue, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Rodney Grassmann confirmed to The Sacramento Bee early Wednesday.

A 911 caller at that location reported “that they heard gun shots then saw a vehicle with bullet holes,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies arrived and located the vehicle, finding a man “slumped over and unresponsive” in the driver’s seat, according to the news release. Fire personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The victim was identified Wednesday by the coroner as 19-year-old Bryan Sotelo of Sacramento.

Homicide detectives are investigating the incident, and the Sheriff’s Office says no suspect information or further details are available.
