Grass fire burns 10 acres in Shingle Springs area
Fire crews halted the spread of a fire that burned 10 acres and threatened homes in the Shingle Springs area Wednesday afternoon.
Brice Bennett, spokesman for Cal Fire’s Amador-El Dorado Unit, said the fire was reported at 3:52 p.m. in the area of Thunder Lane and Fernwood Drive.
The fire threatened some homes, but Bennett said homeowners had done a good job of clearing defensible space, which helped prevent the fire from reaching the residences.
As of about 5:15 p.m., he said, some fire crews were being released from the scene.
