One man dead, another injured in early-morning Valley Hi shooting, Sacramento police say

One man was shot and another was injured early Sunday in a shooting in Valley Hi, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

In a news release, the department said that officers were called to the 5200 block of Summerbrook Way about 12:54 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering a gunshot wound. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but Sacramento Fire Department personnel declared him dead at the scene.

Shortly afterward, another man took himself to a hospital to treat a non-life threatening gunshot wound connected with the shooting.

Homicide detectives will be canvassing the area and seeking witnesses as they investigate. Police did not have any information regarding the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
