Man shot near Walmart in south Sacramento, hospitalized with critical injuries

A man was seriously injured after a shooting Sunday evening near Walmart in south Sacramento, sheriff’s officials said.

One victim was hospitalized and is in “stable but critical” condition, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Rodney Grassmann said.

A 911 caller reported that a person inside a vehicle near Stockton Boulevard and Florin Road had been shot, the Sheriff’s Office said in a Monday news release. Arriving deputies located a driver, the sole occupant of a vehicle, with a gunshot injury.

The gunshot victim was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where he remained in stable but critical condition as of Monday evening, according to the news release.

The shooting happened shortly after 8:15 p.m. near the Walmart Supercenter on Florin Road, according to Grassmann.

No suspect is in custody, he said, and no suspect information is available. The shooting remains under investigation.
