Sacramento police officers detained three people Friday after a reported marijuana dispensary burglary led to a vehicle chase from the East Del Paso Heights area to a North City Farms neighborhood, where a SWAT team searched for two of the suspects.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Friday, officers responded to the reported burglary at the marijuana dispensary business in the 2000 block of Rene Avenue, just east of Pinell Street and north of Interstate 80.

Officers detained one suspect who was still at the scene, said Officer Karl Chan, a Sacramento Police Department spokesman. He said officers spotted a vehicle leaving the area of the reported burglary.

The vehicle then led officers on a chase. Chan said a police helicopter followed the vehicle to the area of Atlas Avenue and 28th Street, where two people got out.

Officers caught up with and detained one person quickly in the neighborhood just west of Highway 99, Chan said. Officers created a perimeter to search for the other person.

At least one gun was recovered during the search, so a SWAT team was called to help, Chan said. About 10 a.m. Friday, officers found and detained the other person. Police detectives took over the investigation.

On Friday afternoon, Chan said there was no further information as detectives continued to investigate the burglary. It was unclear whether the suspects detained had been arrested or whether officers recovered anything that might have been stolen from the marijuana dispensary.
