Man killed in south Sacramento shooting; sheriff’s deputies found him lying in roadway

A man was shot and killed Sunday night in south Sacramento, found lying in the street, authorities said.

Deputies responded around 10 p.m. to multiple 911 calls from witnesses near the 7200 block of Palmer House Drive, near Florin Road, reporting gunshots, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies located a man in the roadway with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body, the news release said. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Homicide detectives are investigating, but no suspect information is available.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity pending notification of family.
