Sacramento County deputies seize 12 guns after arresting man on suspicion of domestic violence
A man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and several stolen guns were retrieved by Sacramento County deputies early Sunday, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
In a news release, the Sheriff’s Office said that dispatchers were called by a woman at 3:13 a.m. reporting that she had been the victim of domestic violence at a home just outside Citrus Heights, near Greenback Lane and Fair Oaks Boulevard.
The caller told authorities that the man was still at the home, and when patrol deputies arrived, the man was already leaving, headed toward a vehicle.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the man, Jesus Martin Gutierrez, 27, was initially uncooperative but eventually was taken into custody without incident.
Deputies said they retrieved a concealed gun from Gutierrez and 11 guns from inside the vehicle, three of which had been reported stolen. Several high-capacity magazines, drum magazines and an illegal silencer also were found during a search of the vehicle, authorities said.
All of the guns were seized and are being held by the Sheriff’s Office.
Gutierrez was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and released later in the day, according to jail records. The Sheriff’s Office said that he faces 19 felony charges, including charges related to domestic violence, receiving stolen property, possessing high-capacity magazines and illegally carrying loaded firearms.
