SWAT officers search Sacramento apartment building for suspect in domestic incident

Police tape at crime scene

A man accused of brandishing a firearm at two people during a domestic dispute Monday evening in Sacramento’s River District was not located by a SWAT team that entered the apartment unit Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The two victims fled the apartments and reported to law enforcement that the suspect was still possibly inside the unit, Sacramento Police Department spokesman Officer Karl Chan said.

The incident began around 9 p.m., Chan said, in the 600 block of Cannery Avenue — the Cannery Place Apartments.

Officers attempted to contact the suspect. SWAT officers and crisis negotiators eventually responded, and police also used a drone to look inside the apartment unit, Chan said.

SWAT teams began to enter the apartment around 5 a.m. but after a search, no suspect was located.

There were no reports of shots being fired, Chan said. Officers have since cleared the scene.

No suspect information was immediately available.
