Sacramento police officers find teen with gunshot wound not far from double-homicide

Sacramento police officers on Wednesday evening found a teenager with a gunshot wound in a neighborhood not far from the Fifth Street shooting that killed a 7-year-old girl and a man the previous night.

About 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the 2600 block of Kit Carson Street for a report of an injured person, said Officer Ryan Woo, a Sacramento Police Department spokesman.

Officers arrived in the neighborhood, a few blocks east of Fifth Street, and found a 17-year-old boy who had suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

Woo said on Thursday it was unclear to investigators where the actual shooting occurred as police continued to investigate the latest incident of gun violence in Upper Land Park.

He said investigators do not believe the shooting that injured the teen Wednesday is related to the shooting late Tuesday that killed 7-year-old Isabel Agnes Delgadilo Martin and 42-year-old Clifford Hall in the 2600 block of Fifth Street near Seavey Circle. Police arrested Tyrice Martin, the girl’s uncle, on suspicion of homicide in the Fifth Street shooting.
