Police arrested a man accused of pushing down a woman going for a walk with her grandson, then robbing her this week in Elk Grove.

“While the woman was pushing her grandson in the stroller, a man approached her from behind and pushed her to the ground,” the Elk Grove Police Department said in a social media post.

Neither the woman nor child was seriously injured, the department wrote.

Police did not give a location for the incident, which happened Tuesday, but said the woman was able to give a detailed description, and another witness saw a man matching that description hopping the guard rail on the southbound Highway 99 on-ramp at Sheldon Road.

“The man was seen by officers hunkered down under the overpass and surrendered,” the post continued.

The suspect was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County main jail on multiple charges including robbery, the Police Department wrote.

He was not identified, but the department in a Facebook comment Wednesday morning said the suspect remains in custody and is ineligible for bail.
