Update: Suspect in custody after all-night standoff in Elk Grove, police say

Police tape at crime scene

Police took a suspect into custody Thursday morning after a roughly 10-hour standoff in an Elk Grove neighborhood.

Officers, including SWAT personnel, responded Wednesday night to a residence on Ammolite Way near Tusk Way, the Elk Grove Police Department said in social media posts.

“The suspect led another agency on a pursuit from Sacramento to Elk Grove,” the Police Department said in initial social media posts around 10:30 p.m. An air unit saw the suspect run into a house on Ammolite Way, the department wrote.

Crisis negotiations began, and continued through the night, police said.

In an update at 8:30 a.m., the Police Department said that while SWAT officers were searching the house, dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting a person “going through backyards eastbound on Ammolite.”

“The suspect was located not far from the area and taken into custody,” the department tweeted.

The suspect has not been identified.
