Antioch teens charged in organized retail theft spree at Yolo County CVS, Walgreens stores
Yolo County prosecutors on Monday filed felony organized retail theft charges against two Antioch teens accused of stealing over $1,200 in merchandise from Walgreens and CVS stores in Woodland and Davis on the same day last week.
Dorian Adams, 19, and Taveon Thompson, 18, were each charged with one count of organized retail theft, alleging the defendants stole store merchandise with the intent to make a profit from the crime, according to a criminal complaint filed in Yolo Superior Court.
Adams and Thompson also face three counts of criminal conspiracy in connection with thefts at a CVS store and a Walgreens store in Woodland and a CVS store in Davis, according to the filed complaint.
Adams has been released from the Yolo County Jail after posting $50,000 bail, and Thompson remained in custody with his bail set at $50,000, the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office announced in a news release Monday afternoon.
Prosecutors in the complaint alleged Adams and Thompson drove to each store together on Dec. 9, placing merchandise in bags they brought with them and leaving without paying for the items. The defendants are accused of stealing $430 worth of merchandise from CVS in Woodland, $450 in merchandise from Walgreens in Woodland and $366 at CVS in Davis, according to the complaint.
Davis police spotted a vehicle believed to have been used to flee the Davis CVS theft and pulled it over. Inside the vehicle, officers found items stolen from the store and arrested Adams and Thompson, according to the Davis Police Department.
A photo of the stolen items from the Davis store showed mostly toiletries — a few dozen bars of soap, bottles of shampoo and lotion — as well as several bottles of vitamins.
Adams and Thompson appeared in court for their arraignment Monday afternoon. The Davis Enterprise reported the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
