Pedestrian dies in Sacramento after vehicle hits him near Fruitridge Manor neighborhood

A pedestrian died Thursday night after he was struck by a vehicle near the Fruitridge Manor neighborhood of Sacramento, authorities said.

The fatal collision occurred in the area of 69th Street and Lemon Hill Avenue. One person had died in the collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

Fire officials said Sacramento Municipal Utility District crews were at the scene assessing a damaged power pole, and traffic on Lemon Hill in both directions was slowed as authorities worked at the scene.

Authorities closed some roads in the area as officers investigated the collision, the Sacramento Police Department announced shortly before 8 p.m. on social media. Police officials could not be reached for an update on the fatal collision Friday morning.

The Police Department told CBS 13 on Thursday night that the pedestrian, a man, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, and vehicle’s driver remained at the scene and was speaking with officers.
