Man shot and killed Thursday evening in south Sacramento County

A man was shot and killed Thursday evening in south Sacramento County, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies responded to a shooting around 5:40 p.m. in the 4700 block of Roosevelt Avenue and located a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene.

“Based on preliminary investigation, our detectives believe that this is an isolated incident and the victim was targeted,” sheriff’s officials wrote.

No suspect information is available.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
