46-year-old bicyclist from Mather is killed in Rancho Cordova crash, police say
A bicyclist was killed in a crash Saturday evening in Rancho Cordova, according to the city’s Police Department.
In a news release, Rancho Cordova police officials said that the bicyclist was hit on southbound Zinfandel Drive just south of International Drive shortly after 7 p.m.
A driver was headed south on Zinfandel Drive in the far right lane when they struck the bicyclist, who was attempting to cross the roadway. Sacramento Metro Fire personnel declared the bicyclist dead at the scene of the crash.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as John Anthony Matias, 46, of Mather.
The driver remained at the scene and spoke with law enforcement personnel, according to police.
