Rancho Cordova police officer crashes car into a pole along Folsom Boulevard

Police tape at crime scene

A Rancho Cordova police officer crashed into a pole Friday afternoon, suffering only superficial injuries, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. Kionna Rowe, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office, said the officer was driving a marked police vehicle on the 9500 block of Folsom Boulevard, just outside the Rancho Cordova city limits, about 4:41 p.m. when the vehicle crashed into a metal pole.

Rowe said the officer was responding to a call when the crash occurred.

The vehicle’s airbags were deployed and the police officer suffered minor lacerations, according to Rowe. Fire personnel responded and the officer was taken to a hospital for treatment as a precaution.

The crash will be investigated by the California Highway Patrol. No one else was involved in the crash, Rowe said.
