$3,000 power generator stolen from Yolo County high school, sheriff’s officials say

Police tape at crime scene

Law enforcement officials in Yolo County are seeking one or more suspects accused of stealing a power generator from Esparto High School last week, as well damaging locks and other equipment at the campus.

An unknown suspect jumped the fence at the high school around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office said in a Tuesday social media post.

“The subject(s) attempted to gain entry into the Esparto High School Culinary Trailer, by prying the door and causing over $1,000 in damage,” sheriff’s officials wrote. The suspect also cut locks on storage containers.

Then on Friday, one or more suspects allegedly entered the campus again, cut another lock and stole a generator and casing from the same trailer damaged Thursday.

The Sheriff’s Office said the stolen generator is a Powerhouse brand generator worth more than $3,000.

Surveillance photos posted by the Sheriff’s Office showed a person of interest in a gray-and-black hooded sweatshirt and jeans, with a black mask and a partially blue backpack.

The Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with information about the reported theft to contact its tip line at 530-668-5248.
