Parents fighting on campus leads to River City High School lockdown in West Sacramento
A fight among a group of parents last week at River City High School led to a precautionary lockdown at the West Sacramento campus and a response from police.
The parents were involved in the fight Friday at the River City High front entrance, according to the Washington Unified School District. Campus security officers and administrators responded to the fight, and officers from the West Sacramento Police Department were called to the campus.
“With any police presence on campus, stories begin to circulate,” school district officials said in a Facebook post. “We want to make sure you have accurate information about the incident and dispel any rumors you may have heard.”
The campus lockdown was initiated as a precaution and later lifted before classes resumed as normally scheduled, according to the school district. Administrators reminded parents that school safety is a shared responsibility.
“RCHS remains committed to providing a safe and orderly learning environment for all our students and staff,” district officials said in the Facebook post. “Disruptions like this do not align with the core values of our school, and they take focus away from teaching and learning. Our school will continue investigating this incident to ensure it does not happen again.”
